A LITTLE BIT ABOUT SKEDDADER...
First and foremost, we are pet owners. The Skeddader team also runs a seasonal garden centre, Gardeners Junction. The need for keeping our outdoor growing areas free from 4-legged trespassers is extremely important. But, the need to find a safe humane solution for deterring animals was top priority.
We researched many solutions. We found visual and auditory scare devices that could be used to repel animals. These include ultrasonic repellers, motion-activated water sprayers, noise makers, and visual scare devices such as reflective tape and faux predators. We found the effectiveness of these visual and auditory scare devices quickly faded over time. However, the use of unpleasant aromas (to the animals – the aroma is actually quite pleasing to humans) proved to have a lasting effect – up to as much as 45 to 60 days rain or shine.
